Overview
What it is
Most burns treated in urgent care are kitchen and workshop burns: hot pans, scalding water, curling irons, exhaust pipes, and grill accidents. Burns are classified by depth — first-degree (red, painful, like a sunburn), second-degree (blisters, very painful), and third-degree (deep, possibly not painful because nerves are damaged). Small first- and second-degree burns heal well with proper care; the size and location decide where they should be treated.
